I bought bread rolls and chocolate-covered marshmallows to share with friends. We had a little picnic—a treat that was a nice change from our moms’ healthy packed lunches.

Out of deep respect, I’d choose Jane Goodall: an impressive pioneer—despite opposition, her work has revolutionized our understanding of chimpanzees, and at the same time, she has lived her life with a respect for nature and the planet like almost no one else.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
“Sleep on it.” That phrase sounds simple, but it has helped me time and again. I still remember the moment when my mother calmly said to me, “Tomorrow is another day.” And that’s exactly what made so many things easier.
